Prevalence of Posterior Tibialis Tendon Dysfunction in Individuals with Flatfeet

چکیده
Posterior Tibialis Tendon Dysfunction is a progressive condition usually associated with an overpronated foot (flatfoot). It can be debilitating in its later chronic stages severely affecting the ADL’s of individual if not identified earliest stages. As earlier detection may help prevent or halt progression PTTD advanced severe younger individuals age 18 to 25 years flatfeet. The assessment for was done using Johnson and Strom criteria which widely used classification clinical diagnosis this dysfunction.

Tibialis posterior tendon dysfunction.
Dysfunction of the tibialis posterior tendon evolves through a series of stages. The pain symptoms, clinical signs, and roentgenographic changes for each of these stages are characteristic. This staging system permits clarification and individualization of dysfunction, expected pathologic changes, and surgical treatment. The importance of the tibialis posterior tendon in normal hindfoot functio...

متن کاملNew method for fixation point of tibialis posterior tendon transfer
Background: The transfer of the tibialis posterior tendon to the dorsum of foot can restore the function of the paralyzed dorsiflexor muscles of the foot and ankle. In order to reduce the wound complication in the insertion site of tendon to bone by a plantar knop we used a new method of fixation by an absorbable screw inserted dorsally. Methods: we performed this operation on 15 patients in...
متن کاملIsolated talonavicular arthrodesis in patients with rheumatoid arthritis of the foot and tibialis posterior tendon dysfunction
BACKGROUND The foot is often affected in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Subtalar joints are involved more frequently than ankle joints. Deformities of subtalar joints often lead to painful flatfoot and valgus deformity of the heel. Major contributors to the early development of foot deformities include talonavicular joint destruction and tibialis posterior tendon dysfunction, mainly due to...
